So today in the chicken run we:
- screwed some timber along the bottom of the coop so it could be tied to the concrete blocks it is sat on.
- put up a tarp to give the chicks some shelter from rain and sun
- moved the coop

Well I am in love, a better picture of the chicks they are a bit unsure and unsettled after their first night in their new home. They have come out and explored a little but have gone back in house, so have left them with door open to come and go and keep an eye on them throughout the day. One had a Steve Mcqueen moment yesterday and managed to fly up a little further then I expected. So to be sure chairman of the allotment has clipped the wings. I held wings and he cut an nerve racking experience but reckon I could do it again now when they grow back or maybe ill show Mr and he can cut !
My Pumpkin plants are looking good have 4 in total and I am wanting May to end quick so there is no fear of Mr Frost and plant these out. Have prepared a bed for them at the bottom of the plot with manure and good compost so fingers crossed they will grow and my dream of a patch of pumpkins will be reality come Autumn.

Well they are here! Four very beautiful Rhode Island Red Bantams. We picked them up this evening, from a lovely farm with the most amazing views of the Black Mountains I have ever seen. Had a tour of the farm and met “Mum and Dad” of the hens we have brought home.
Not the best picture of them but put them straight into new home and locked up safe for the night.
I am thrilled beyond that we have them at last and am looking forward to watching them grow and I hope they enjoy the allotment as much as I do. They are 7 weeks old so have a little way to go before they produce eggs for us. So we are looking at the last weekend in July before they start laying, and for anyone who is in ear shot of me the day I collect my first egg look out as I am very excited or should I say eggcited !! lol
